There was a poster that said, “Do you wake up grouchy? No, sometimes I let him sleep in.” That was me! I would think a bad night’s sleep was waking up once for a few moments. I would moan and complain about the rotten sleep I had. I would struggle all day with being tired and worn out because of the lousy sleep I had had.
One day I was at an early morning breakfast that happened on Fridays with the teachers I was working with at the time. One of the men said that he had awakened at 4 o’clock and said to his wife, “You’re going love this! We have 2 hours more to sleep before we get up.” It was like a penny dropping. I thought, wow, I’ve never looked at it that way before. It simply impacted me immensely. The next time I woke up and looked at the digital clock I said, “Fantastic, I’ve got 4 more hours sleep. Does it get any better than that?” I woke up really happy because of the 4 hours more sleep I got. I do that all the time since that day. It totally changed my outlook. I’m still not a morning person but at least I’m happy when I wake up.
One thing can change the quality of your life. It may seem really simple yet can have a profound affect. A friend of ours lent 24 Secrets to Great Parenting to a colleague of hers whom she thought was a very good parent. Her colleague picked up one thing, which has and will profoundly change the quality of their family life. One thing like that will change your whole life. Even a great parent can have one of those “Aha moments” that changes your life forever.
We strongly encourage you to look for the “Aha Moment”. One thing can change everything for a lifetime.
