When we live by faith we must accept what Hebrews 11:3 says. “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” It means that creation came into being from the spirit. That is why we cannot live by common sense alone. We must live by faith or God sense.
If we live through earthly understanding we will not have faith to see the supernatural power of God break into our world. Earthly understanding, i.e., the mind of man, is at enmity with God. (Romans 8:7) The sinful mind is the fountain of unbelief. It is hostile to God. How can you move in faith if your mind is in opposition to God? How can you move in faith if all you believe in is this natural realm? How can you move in faith if you don’t believe the spiritual realm will supersede the natural realm? How can you believe in faith if your mind is telling you that a miracle is impossible?
The bible gives example after example of the supernatural spiritual realm breaking through the bounds of the natural realm. Jesus did it over and over again. He took 5 loaves and 2 fish, gave thanks, fed 5,000 men and had baskets of leftovers. (Matthew 14) He walked on water. (Matthew 14) He commanded storms to cease and they did. (Matthew 8) Jesus healed the lame, gave sight to the blind, cleansed lepers and raised the dead. Read through the gospels. His disciples did the same. They healed, delivered and performed miracles. Peter walked on water with Him. Philip was translated from one place to another. Paul shook off a poisonous viper and was healed. He prayed over cloth and the sick were healed when the pieces of cloth were laid upon them. Angels opened prison doors, causing chains to fall off. The book of Acts is full of wonderful supernatural interventions into the natural world.
We as believers need to understand that by faith we can do the same. We must believe that by His command what is seen was made out of what is not seen. That same creative power resides within us if we believe by faith. Jesus said in John 14: “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth; anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” If we have faith in Him, we will do even greater things than the miracles He did. Wow!
We have to understand that facts are not always the truth. The facts reveal information but God is the source of all truth. The doctors may say you have cancer which is a fact determined by science but the truth is ‘by His stripes you are healed’. God can overrule the facts with His truth if we have faith. Remember faith is seeing that which is unseen, which includes God. If you know God, you know the truth.
