Psalm32:1-2 “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin The Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.”
This psalm starts out by saying we are doubly blessed. To be blessed is to be happy, fortunate and to be envied. Jesus took all of our sins, transgressions and all of our iniquities upon himself when he was nailed to the cross. Because He took them, we can be freely forgiven when we accept what He did for us. Who wouldn't feel happy not to have their sins forgiven!
But not only are our sins forgiven they are covered and not counted against us. One of the greatest gifts we have been given is the gift of repentance. To repent is to change your mind. When we do and ask God to forgive us for doing wrong, we are covered by the blood of Jesus. Psalm 103:12 says that as far as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions from us. In Micah chapter 7 it say God hurls our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
When The Lord forgives he also forgets! He never brings you back to something to rub your nose in it. Instead, He pours out His mercy and His grace upon us and fills us with His love. How blessed can we be! God is abounding in love and does not hold our transgressions against us.
Prayer: “Father, I thank you for forgiving all my sins and not holding them against me. I receive your blessing, your great mercy and your grace to cover me.”
