Psalm 107:1-2 “Give thanks to The Lord for he is good, his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of The Lord say this, those he redeemed from the hand of the foe!”
This psalm has five elements worth looking at. First is the command to give thanks to The Lord. When we give thanks it takes us out of self-centered thinking and it reminds us that he is in control of our lives...that He is on the throne. But secondly it tells us why we give thanks. We give thanks to Him because He is good! God is good. It is His nature His very core. Because He is good He does not with hold anything from those who love Him.
Thirdly, we see that His love endures forever! Forever is a long time. It never ends. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is good and He is love. That endures forever. Endures means to remain in existence, to last. His love comes with a guarantee that is will never wear out or run out. It will exist forever!
The fourth concept is that the redeemed, those that have been bought by the power of the cross and the blood that Jesus shed for us, are to speak of the love and power of God. Our words have power. When we speak of the power of the love of God we release the power of our testimony. Revelation tells us that one way we overcome that enemy by the power of our testimony. So, speak it forth!
Lastly, we have been redeemed from the hand of the foe. Sometimes we forget what we have been rescued form. That we have an enemy who prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. The devil is our enemy. He comes to steal kill and destroy but Jesus came that we might have life and that more abundantly. Jesus has rescued us form darkness and now we can give thanks to The Lord for his love has been poured into our hearts. Now that gives us something to be grateful for!
Prayer: “Father I thank you for your great love and the power of your deliverance. Thank you for bringing me into your love and rescuing me from the hand of the foe!”
