Psalm 60:12 - Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
This is the King James Version of this verse. I like it because I feel the truth of who we are in the Spirit is portrayed. Zachariah 4:6 puts it this way: “not by might nor by power but by my Spirit says The Lord”. It is only through the spirit of God that we are able to accomplish victory over the enemy. God by His spirit lives in us and we partner with Him to execute victory.
Valiant is a great word. It means possessing and showing courage and determination. We can and do have authority over the enemy because Jesus gave it to us. However, we choose to walk in it. With authority comes responsibility. That means you have the ability to respond! At times we may not feel like we are strong but our strength is not in our ability but in His victory. There we can say I am strong in The Lord and in the power of His might. Joel says let the weak say I am strong!
Courage prompts us to walk in faith. That doesn't mean there won't be an absence of fear. There is a saying, "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment" that something else is more important than fear." That which is more important is “Him”. God has already made the provision for us to be valiant. All we need to do is ask for it and then be determined to walk in it!
Prayer: “Father I ask for courage and the strength to walk in it. I thank you that I do not have a spirit of fear but power, love and a sound mind. I know I am strong in you and in the power of your might and that you give me the victory over my enemies. Amen.”
