Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.”
The Psalms begin by telling us we are blessed. So what does that mean anyway? Does it have to do with the prayer we say before we indulge in our food? Is it what we are after our head explodes when we sneeze? Or is it what you say when some kind soul lets you into the streams of traffic you are battling?
The word blessed means to be happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable. This is the promise of God to those that walk in his way, who delight and meditate on Him. The word promise is a declaration or assurance that one will do something or that a particular thing will happen. It's like God has an agreement with us.
He has given us His word of honor or made a covenant with us concerning blessing. He says He will bless us. Like the promise given to Abraham, the father of our faith, God will undertake for you to bring about His bond with you.
The Psalm goes on to say that you will be fruitful and you will prosper. Now don't you think that is worth walking, delighting and meditating on Him. Do you want to be blessed? Then begin to make a conscious decision to ask God to direct you into Him and leave the rest up to him.
Prayer: “Father, I ask that you would direct me into you. Help me to walk in your ways, delight and meditate on you. I thank you that you want to bless me and I receive all you have for me”.
