Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.
Want is an interesting word. I often think of a child's Christmas wish list when I think of want. I can hear children trying to coerce their parent as they make their way through the store saying, "I want one"!
But we are God’s children and He has promised to shepherd us. A good shepherd feeds, protects and guides his sheep. He cares about the welfare of those sheep entrusted to him. God does the same for us. In fact he doesn't just meet our needs but he says we shall not want!
The word “want” denotes more than a need, it speaks of desire, something wished for or fancied. It means you won't have a lack or a deficiency of something required. In fact in Philippians it says that God will supply all of your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
We are told in Mark 10:15 that the kingdom of God needs to be received like a little child. Children have simplicity in expressing their needs. We are admonished to ask and He will supply all of our needs. Do it with faith and expectation!
Prayer: "Father I thank you that you meet all my needs and I will not lack any good thing. I thank you that I am blessed and I shall not want in any area of my life. Amen!"
