Psalm 66:12 “You let people ride over our heads, we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance!”
I love the "but God" testimonies in people's lives. Verse 10 of this psalm says The Lord tested us. I don't know about you but I don't like the testing of The Lord. It often feels like you are between a rock and a hard place. I remember the summer I got pregnant with our twins. Life was great! We were newly saved and everything was wonderful! Jim had been promoted and we were sailing. We went to visit friends and while there went to a tent meeting. At the end of a meeting, a woman came up to us and said she saw tongues of fire above Jim's head. She said The Lord told her to tell us that He would be with us through the fire ahead! We had no idea what she was on about then but as the year progressed the "fiery trials" became very real.
We are told in the book of James not to be surprised at the trials that come on us. You see the trying of our faith works patience and when its work is finished we will be complete and mature lacking nothing! Not only that we are promised that when we persevere under a trial we will receive a crown of life! All that sounds good but it sure doesn't " feel" good when you are in the midst!
We all will go through trials of many kinds. We who live in the western world have no idea of the type of trials some Christians have to endure. But nonetheless your trials are real. You are the one living in them. The good news is that in God is with us in each and every trial. Isaiah 43:1-2 says that God knows you by name and when you go through the waters they won't sweep you away or when you walk through the fire you won't be burned.
The optimum word here is through! Through means: moving in one side and out of the other side of. So when you move into a situation that feels like a challenge remember, but God! He is the one that is bringing you through! The last part of this verse says where He is bringing you to; " you brought us to a place of abundance". Now that is the goodness of God!
Prayer: “Father I thank you that you are with me in every situation of my life. Thank You for bringing me through, that you are with me and that you are opening your storehouses of your abundance into my life! Amen!”
