Psalm 68:10 “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
Burden is defined as a heavy load, something or someone that can cause hardship or distress. When we feel encumbered or weighed down by situations in life we can often feel despair. We can look at children running freely around with longing in our eyes as if to say, if only I could be worry free like that.
When adult responsibilities become too much they can cause us stress. In fact stress is seen as a major contributor to heart disease and depression. But we have One that daily bears our burdens. To bear is to carry or support. Isaiah 53:4 says, “Surely, He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows”. When Jesus was on the cross, our sin, sickness and sorrows were placed on him. He took them. If he has them then why are they so heavy on us?
Matthew 11:28-30 has the answer. Jesus says, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light!” Therein lies the answer! When we are feeling under a heavy weight we need to go to Jesus and unload. He is there for you on a daily basis. You will never wear him out; in fact you will find rest for your soul.
Jesus was not fussed in the storms of life. He wasn't afraid of the outcome when he confronted demons, religious leaders, disease, wind, waves or even death. He will answer you when you call, for nothing is too difficult or impossible with Him.
Prayer: “Lord I thank you that I can come to you with any problem I am facing. I thank you Jesus that you paid the price for all that troubles me. I give all my cares to you and I choose to receive your rest, for your yoke for it is easy and your burden is light.”
