Psalm 74: 12-13 “But you, O God, are my king from of old; you bring salvation upon the earth. It was you who split open the sea by your power; you broke the heads of the monster in the waters.”
Have you ever felt between a rock and a hard place? In case you haven't it doesn't feel comfortable! In fact it can feel like you are drowning. It could be that the kids are sick, your bills don't match your income, your work is demanding more than you can give or you are in the midst of a huge relational issue. Whatever the case may be, you find yourself in a loosing battle.
That is what this psalmist feels like. In verse nine we see that he has received nothing. No signs, no prophetic voice to bring an encouragement, and everyone has lost hope. That is until he remembers and reviews the past. When we recall what God has done we give testimony to the goodness of God.
A testimony is proof or evidence that something exists or is true. People can't take your testimony away from you because you are living proof that God does all things well. Our psalmist says over and over again "it was you God". He was saying you did this for us, you parted the water, you dried up the river, you delivered us, now do it again! That is why there is power in a testimony. It proves that God is powerful, faithful and willing to move on our behalf. That causes faith to rise and gives us the courage to ask him to do it again.
Whatever your situation is, remember what God has done for you in the past and it will inspire you. Begin to thank him for what he has done and lift up your eyes to Him because that is where your help comes from.
Prayer: “Father I thank you for all that you have done for me. I ask that you would come to me and move on my behalf once again. Do it again Lord! I know that you can do all things so I trust you with every situation.”
