1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beingsand crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: 7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
According to Psalm 8 you were born to rule! Verse 8 says, ‘you made them rulers over the work of your hands’. That was God’s plan from the beginning! When we were created in the image or likeness of God our destiny was to rule, to have dominion. Adam was given the power of choice - the power to do what he wanted or the power to do what was asked of him. He failed and thus gave over the right to rule to the deceiver, the devil.
Thanks be unto God that even before the foundation of the world he had a plan to redeem mankind. The sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross and the power of the resurrection defeated the enemy. Colossians 2:15 says he (Christ) disarmed the powers and authorities making a public spectacular of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Then in Ephesians 1 we read that by that same resurrection power, God raised Christ up and He is now seated at the Fathers right hand, far above all rulers and authorities, powers and dominion and every name that is invoked not only in this age but in the one to come! How exciting!!
Ephesians 1:22 goes on to say that God placed ALL things under His feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the CHURCH! (Emphasis is mine). The mandate has not changed. We have been given a right to and charge to rule. Jesus defeated the enemy and gave us not only the mandate but also the authority and power to rule over. We are the church if we believe in Him. Now is the time to exercise our authority! Jesus’ name is above all, there is power in his name and we are expected to use it. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus says, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has even given to me. Therefore GO!’ Lets use what has been given to us and begin to rule!
Prayer: "Father, open my understanding to your truth and my reality. Let faith arise within me to rule and to reign with you here on earth, your will be done, your kingdom come in Jesus name."
